THE VIETNAMESE REFUGEE CAMP PALAWAN
Looking
back, I realized how organized PFAC Palawan had been. We had UNHCR,
Schools teaching English, French and Vietnamese languages, WESCOM that
took care of the security of the refugees, a hospital with first class
highly competent doctors and efficient nurses, a dental office, two
libraries, a Catholic Church, a Buddhist Temple, a Caodaist Temple, a
Christian Church, Red Cross office, a Daycare Center, a Vietnamese
Restaurant, a bakery, many convenient stores, an improvised movie house,
a coffee shop and a canteen, a counselling office, an accompanied
minors' home, IOM, HTC, ARMDEV, CADP and BRACE etc. PFAC was a community
or a small village. Nostalgic indeed.
Water was supplied by this truck in the event of unexpected shortage.
